What is a New starts job?

New Start Jobs are designed to benefit both employers and employees. The aim is to encourage employers to hire people who need to enter the labor market after being unemployed for a long time.

You can use a New startsjob to hire staff with the help of financial support. This will reduce your company’s expenses while providing the staff your company needs. This way, you will gain valuable skills and be able to expand your business.

You will receive a grant to be able to employ staff who need to enter the labor market. In order for an employee to be entitled to a new start job, the following requirements must be met:

At least 25 years old
Registered with the Swedish Employment Agency
Unemployed for at least 12 of the last 15 months

Or

At least 20 years old
Registered with the Swedish Employment Agency
Unemployed for at least 6 of the last 9 months

The unemployed person has the right to a new start job even if they have participated in a labor market policy program or if they have received sickness benefit, income support or similar. The unemployed person also has the right to a new start job if they are an unemployed newcomer.

New start jobs for companies

As of April 1, 2022, the compensation levels for new start jobs have been increased, making it extra advantageous for you as an company. The compensation you as an cpmapny can receive for the employee varies depending on which conditions are met.

You can receive 2, 2.5 or 3 times the employer’s payroll tax. However, the most common is that you as an entrepreneur receive 2 times the employer’s payroll tax in compensation. You can then receive compensation for two employer’s poyroll tax for monthly salaries up to SEK 20,000 for full-time work. Decisions on compensation are made for one year at a time by the Swedish Public Employment Service.

New start job and its rules

There are certain rules that you must meet in order to be able to take part in a New start job as an campnay. There is clear information about all the rules on the Swedish Public Employment Service’s website, for example, but let’s take a look at some of the most important ones.

You must be registered as an employer with the Swedish Tax Agency.
You must report tax and employer information to the Swedish Tax Agency on a monthly basis.
You must not have tax debts or social security contribution debts of more than SEK 10,000.
The salary and benefits you offer should be in accordance with the current collective agreement.
There must be no deficiencies in the work environment around the employee.
The salary must be paid electronically throughout the entire period

New start job

A New start job is for all those people who need to get a foothold in the labor market after a long period of absence. By offering a New start job, you as a company receive financial support while the employee gains important work experience and a chance to contribute their knowledge.

Normally, a new start job can last for the same length of time as the employee has been unemployed. If you are 25 years old or younger, the new start job usually lasts twelve months. If you are over 26 years old, the new start job can last up to five years. Afterwards, the employee can of course be given a regular job by the company, but without special compensation.

The salary for a new start job should correspond to the salary the employee is entitled to according to the current collective agreement. If the company does not have a collective agreement, the salary must still be equal. The employee does not receive less in salary for a new New start job, it just becomes cheaper for the company to hire.

All about employment support

There are several different types of employment support that benefit both companies and unemployed people who need to enter the labor market. Employment support includes new start jobs, wage subsidies and various aids. When you hire with employment support, you can receive compensation for up to 80% of the salary cost. It makes it easier for your company to hire staff.
