Vocational introduction for people with visual impairments (YIS) is a program through the Swedish Public Employment Service for those who have a documented visual impairment and need extra support to move forward in their career.
The program is divided into different modules and is tailored to your needs. The aim is to provide you with the right conditions to strengthen your skills, build confidence, and gain practical experience that can lead to work or studies.

The program can last up to 84 weeks and can be combined with SFI. A large part takes place at a workplace, but there is also the possibility to participate remotely and work independently on homework assignments. YIS is available throughout the country through various providers and is offered permanently in Stockholm County, Västra Götaland County, and Skåne County.

You need to be registered with the Swedish Public Employment Service and have a documented visual impairment that requires you to have adapted support to move forward towards work or studies. It is your case officer at the Employment Service who determines whether the program is suitable for you.
